타밈 카타르 국왕과 처음으로 통화를 나누게 되어 기쁘게 생각합니다.

카타르는 오랜 기간 한국의 핵심적인 에너지 공급국으로서 중요한 역할을 해왔으며, 한국은 카타르 내 대규모 인프라 구축에 기여해 오면서 서로 굳건한 신뢰를 쌓아왔습니다.

이러한 상호 호혜적 협력 관계는 최근 투자, 국방, 방위산업 등 다양한 분야로 폭넓게 확대되고 있습니다. 앞으로도 양국 간의 굳건한 관계를 더욱 강화하기 위해 함께 협력해 나가기로 약속했습니다.

또한 카타르 왕실이 소유하고 있으며, 이강인 선수가 소속된 파리생제르망(PSG)이 지난 달 유럽 챔피언스리그에서 우승한 것을 축하하고, 향후 PSG와 한국 축구클럽 간 친선경기도 한국에서 개최될 수 있기를 기대한다고도 전했습니다.

It was a pleasure to have my first call with Amir of the State of Qatar, His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.

Korea and Qatar have built a strong foundation of mutual trust over the years, with Qatar serving as a key energy supplier to Korea, and Korea contributing significantly to Qatar's infrastructure development.

Our mutually beneficial partnership has recently expanded into a wider range of sectors, such as investment, defense, and the defense industry. Amir Tamim and I have agreed to work hand in hand to further enhance the strong ties between our nations.

I extended my congratulations to Amir Tamim on Paris Saint-Germain’s recent triumph in the UEFA Champions League—an achievement for a club owned by the Qatari royal family and which is also home to Korean footballer Lee Kang-In. I also hoped that a friendly match between PSG and a Korean football club could be hosted in Korea in the near future.
