한국을 찾은 빅토리아 스웨덴 왕세녀를 만나게 되어 매우 기쁘게 생각합니다.

스웨덴은 한국전쟁 당시 천여 명의 의료지원단을 파견하고 한반도 특사를 운영하는 등 한반도 평화에 꾸준히 기여해 온 소중한 우방입니다. 한반도 평화에 대한 스웨덴의 관심과 노력에 감사를 전했습니다.

유명가수 ABBA와 한강 작가의 노벨문학상 수상 덕에 스웨덴은 우리에게 더욱 친근히 느껴집니다. 이러한 유대를 바탕으로 양국 간 문화 협력이 강화되고, 첨단기술과 재생에너지 등 미래지향적 분야에서도 협력 기회가 확대되길 기대합니다.

빅토리아 왕세녀의 방한을 계기로 오랜 기간 발전해 온 양국 간 우호협력 관계가 한층 심화될 것으로 확신합니다. 앞으로도 지속적인 협력을 통해 평화와 번영을 함께 만들어갈 수 있길 소망합니다.

I was very pleased to meet with Her Royal Highness Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden on the occasion of her visit to Korea.

Sweden is a valued friend of Korea, having dispatched over a thousand members of its medical support team during the Korean War and having continued to contribute to peace on the Korean Peninsula, including through its Special Envoy for the Korean Peninsula. I expressed my deep appreciation for Sweden’s long-standing interest and efforts to promote peace on the Korean Peninsula.

Thanks to the world-renowned musical group ABBA and the awarding of the Nobel Prize in Literature to novelist Han Kang last year, Sweden feels even closer and more familiar to us. Building upon these ties, I look forward to our two countries further strengthening cultural cooperation and expanding opportunities for collaboration in forward-looking fields such as advanced technology and renewable energy.

I am confident that the visit of Her Royal Highness Crown Princess Victoria to Korea will further deepen the long-standing bonds of friendship and cooperation between our two countries. I sincerely hope that, through continued partnership, we will work together to promote peace and shared prosperity.
