키어 스타머 영국 총리와 첫 양자회담을 가졌습니다. 최근 인도 여객기 사고로 안타깝게 목숨을 잃은 영국인 희생자들에 대해 깊은 애도를 표하며, 우방국이자 든든한 파트너로서 슬픔을 함께 나누었습니다.

급변하는 국제 환경 속에서 글로벌 전략적 동반자인 양국이 여러 계기를 통해 긴밀히 협력하는 것이 중요하다는 데 의견을 같이했습니다.

양국 관계 전반에 대해 폭넓게 의견을 교환하며, 한-영 FTA 개선 협상이 원만히 마무리되어 다양한 분야에서 협력이 더욱 심화되기를 기대한다고 밝혔습니다. 

또한 기후변화 대응 등 국제 현안 해결을 위한 공동 노력이 필요하다는 데 공감하고, 청정에너지 등 관련 분야의 협력도 강화하기로 했습니다.

I had my first meeting with UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer. I expressed my deepest condolences to the families of the British nationals who tragically lost their lives in the recent flight accident in India. As close friends and trusted partners, Korea stands together with the UK in this time of sorrow.

We also discussed ways to upgrade our bilateral relationship. We will continue to work together for the successful conclusion of the ongoing ROK-UK FTA enhancement negotiations.
