The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has been a steadfast global partner of the Republic of Korea throughout our long history together. During moments of growth and challenges, the IMF has provided invaluable advice and support, which has greatly contributed to the Korean economy’s steady advancement along a stable path.

Kristalina Georgieva, the Managing Director of the IMF, positively assessed the rapid recovery of the Korean economy, affirming her confidence that "next year, Korea’s economic growth will approach the potential growth rate." I wish to extend my deep gratitude once again for this trust and acknowledgment.

Having grown alongside the IMF, the Republic of Korea is now ready to faithfully fulfill its role as a responsible global economic actor, commensurate with its standing in the international community.

We will work closely with the international community and the IMF to advance together toward a prosperous future, going beyond mere economic recovery and achieving truly inclusive growth and sustainable development.
